Why is Swimming So Good?
Swimming works your whole body, improving cardiovascular conditioning, muscle strength, endurance, posture, and flexibility all at the same time.

Swimming for Kids with Health Concerns
Unlike some sports which require participants to be in fairly robust health, swimming can offer benefits for kids and teens at varying levels of fitness and even those with health concerns that may make participation in other sports
prohibitive.

Overweight kids who don't enjoy many sports may find swimming to be a pleasure; movement in the water may be easier, making fitness fun for even those who have shied away from other forms of exercise.

Kids with Juvenile Arthritis (JA) are typically left out of traditional physical education classes and may have difficulty with even the simplest movements, but the weightless feeling that water provides can make it much easier for kids with JA to get in a little daily exercise. Exercise can help alleviate some of the stiffness associated with JA and is considered necessary not only for the overall health benefits, but also to prevent joint deformity which can occur with inactivity. Asthmatic kids sometimes find that exercise can bring on attacks, making them reliant on the use of rescue inhalers, but many of these kids can swim without experiencing any difficulties. Indoor swimming is especially favored because the warm, moist environment makes breathing easier, as long as the pool is not over-chlorinated.

Attendance
Promptness and attendance are very important to us.  Please call should your child need to miss a class due to illness or conflict.  We offer two make-ups per Session should conflicts arise.  All make-ups must be completed by session's end.  Here's how to schedule a make-up:

In most cases we can schedule make-ups over the phone.  Please stop by the front desk and we will issue you a card with the day and time of your make-up.  Give this card to your child's teacher when you attend the make-up class.  When at all possible, plan in advance so we are better able to accommodate your needs.  If SIGS needs to cancel a class for any reason (inclement weather, etc.) a make-up class will be assigned, or you will be allowed a make-up at your convenience.

All Classes fill on a first come/first pay basis. Full payment is required for registration. Limit of two make-up per 10 week session. Enrollment in class entitles you to that day/time. Switching between classes will necessitate a penalty fee. NO REFUNDS! ACCOUNT CREDITS MAY BE ISSUED AND ARE GOOD FOR 1 YEAR FROM DATE POSTED. A $15 FEE WILL BE ASSESSED FOR DROPPED CLASSES.

You will be notified only if your first choice can not be honored.
